A Sensitive and Portable Deep-UV Absorbance Detector with a Microliter Gas Cell Compatible with Micro GC

Deep-UV absorption spectrometry for detection of toxic airborne gases, instance, Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX) has drawn considerable attention owing to its high sensitivity reliability. However, the development a deep-UV absorbance detector having good sensitivity, portability, low-volume gas cell with applicability micro Gas Chromatography (μGC) is challenging. Herein we present novel, self-referenced, portable microliter (275 μL) minimal dead volume. It excellent compatibility μGC individual BTEX components in mixed sample at sub-ppm level. The design consists latest, portable, cost-effective optical electronic components, i.e., LED, hollow-core waveguide, photodiodes. directly measures values volts using an integrated circuit log-ratio amplifier. prototype was tested direct injection toluene-N2 (1.5 ppm 50 ppm) linearity (R2 = 0.99) limit 196 ppb obtained. setup mixture N2 different GC column temperatures.
